Streets of Sesame

Streets of Sesame reimagines beloved childhood characters stripped of their purpose, recast in worlds of crime and disillusion. Once symbols of innocence and education, they now navigate darker narratives—an allegory for what happens when cultural institutions lose their public mission. The series critiques the privatization of knowledge, sparked by PBS selling the rights to HBO, transforming a once-free, universally accessible program into content reserved for those who can pay. Through this lens, the work questions who gets left behind when education and culture are commodified.
