Dia de Los Muertos

Día de los Muertos is a series shaped by my own lived traditions; celebrating the holiday in America as a child and now as an adult, enjoying the food, colors, and rituals that keep the memory of loved ones alive. In addition, visits to cemeteries in El Salvador revealed the breathtaking beauty of the holiday there, where flowers, offerings, and decorations transform grief into celebration. Together, these experiences shape a series that embraces the holiday in a more literal way, honoring its power to preserve memory through vivid imagery and devotion. Painting the series on an ongoing basis is, for me, a way to connect and reflect; keeping alive both personal memory and cultural tradition.
